The Jungle Marathon
The Jungle Marathon
Runners will be required to carry their own food and gear for the duration of the race, surviving on a ration of 12 liters of water per day. At the end of each stage, they will share occupancy on pre-erected Amazon style camp sites with hammocks.

The Jungle Marathon is an arduous self-sufficient foot race over 7 days through the Amazon, one of the most remote and isolated regions of the world.
The total distance to be covered is 250km (approx. 160 miles) in 6 stages. Each day the race stages get progressively longer culminating in a non-stop stage of 80km (50 miles) on stage 5, which runners have 33 hours to complete. The final stage is a 24km (15 mile) run to the finish line where the hotel accommodation for the competitors is located.
All competitors are required to carry a minimum amount of compulsory gear for living in the jungle (mosquito net, hammock, survival pack etc.).

The race will be run during the least wet period of the year, so runners should expect temperatures reaching up to 40c by day and 25c by night with very high humidity. Although it is the time of year with the least amount of rainfall be prepared for some showers as they can occur throughout the day.
No experience of the jungle is required to run this race; however, you will need to be medically fit and very determined. Preparation and training are the keys to successfully completing the race.
A fit body is needed to run it, but a strong mind is needed to finish it.
