Andreas Puntigam sustained a solid effort throughout a hot and muggy Sunday to reach 64.7584 miles and lead the field. Veteran Namitabha Arsic reached the 2700 mile plateau for the seventh time in his running life(42+10:46:00). Matt Boulton reached 2000 miles for the first time(42+08:48:20), much to the delight and wonder of his many friends.

    Hallo Andreas!

To ANDREAS and all the other 3100 miles runners,
Each and every morning when I leave the house and run to our Madal Bal store I think of You all!!!
    All the best from Harald/Salzburg

    Matt Boulton
Matty M8 !   The Wallabies might have lost to the All Blacks tonight here in Sydney and Thorpie lost his form in the pool; but our island home proudly has the Thunder from Downunder in New York who is the true strength-of-spirit medal winner!
To our living example that 'silence is the language of the heart' , the quiet Matt, is our greatest voice right now for Australians.   You have inspired me personally to health recovery by your own dedication, faith and determination! I look forward to sharing your shining smile at the finish line with some Vegemite on Toast! To all the participants : greatest admiration - deepest wishes - strongest support !
Your friend, Brad Farmer, Sydney, Australia.

    14 December

A hot and humid  morning heated up even more with the sun’s arrival, but a relentless series of thundershowers took over after the lunch hour, pelting the runners and the course with several inches of rain. Namitabha Arsic withstood the worst of the rainstorms to cover 61.4656 soggy miles. Andreas, Matt and Trishul all topped 54 miles, as the series of storms continued into the night. They were probably dreaming of thunder and lightning as nature’s onslaught continued overnight.

Trishul, Keep up the good work. The Red Sox are still in contention for the Wilcard slot and by the time you are done, we'll probably be in the Word Series! Carry on.
    Marc Witkes, USA

As many of us who know him feel, one of the most inspiring runners in the 3100 is  our Australian brother Matt Boulton, who had the faith to enter the 3100 mile race  based on little ultra running experience. He has remarkably continued this journey  and just last Thursday after more than a month of running, set a personal best daily  mileage of 70 miles (the best mark that day of any runner).

Sri Chinmoy had expressed a wish to have 7 runners in this year's race and had  invited people to apply that ordinarily may not have based on the stringent  requirements of running many previous ultra races. Matt heard this in Canberra and  immediately applied, a sincere testimony of his faith in himself and in his teacher. Matt really is a tremendous inspiration to all of us. Thanks Matt.
    Sanjay, NYC

Hi, Matt! I had heard of your incredible accomplishment of 70+ miles on day 33 of the 3,100 mile race, but haven't been able to get to a computer until now. Marvellous, magnificent, ahh-mazing! Thank-you once again, on behalf of everyone around the globe for what you are doing.
    Prashphutita Melbourne, Australia

All Matt's friends in the Canberra Centre (and that's all of us) are  thrilled and sincerely grateful for your words of appreciation.

There are defining moments in our lives when we face choices: whether to leap forward into the unknown, or remain with what we know and are comfortable with.

Matt has taken one such gigantic leap forward into the unknown,  relying entirely on faith. He heard that he was accepted into the race less than a week before it commenced, and 3 hours after he  applied. With scarcely a word, he packed a few items, told his work  he'd be gone for some time, finished the design for this year's  Triple-Triathlon entry form (well, that race is held in late
November, and he knew he'd be running for a long while), and boarded a plane to the other side of the world with virtually no idea what  lay ahead. He had no helper, no provisions, no plans, just a couple  of pairs of running shoes.

    Training? There was no training.

There were times, especially during the second week of the race when  it seemed certain he would not be able to continue, with shin splints  and other problems reducing him to a shuffle. Yet he hasn't just 'hung in there.' He shocked and amazed everyone on Thursday  (Day 33) with his 70 mile effort, the highest of any runner on any  day since Day 1. Other runners urged him to slow up, but he just couldn't help himself, with no thought of tomorrow. It's as though  he's broken free from this world, flying and dancing in another realm.

He's now run further than any Australian in a certified race. Whatever milestones he may now pass (3,000 km for example) will become Australian National Records.

It's been noted that he's getting more messages of support than the other runners. Indeed, he's developed a truly international 'fan club,' many of whom have never met him. That's simply because we acknowledge not just his running performance, but more especially the mind-boggling leap of faith that has catapulted a quiet, humble, unassuming Clark Kent in one bound into a Superman cloak of his own. We see that he's doing it for us, that if "our Matt" can go forth, challenge and smash the barriers of impossibility, then maybe so can we...

He's certainly our hero here. Whenever someone is facing some challenge, difficulty or unwillingness, our catch-cry has become: "Think of Matty!" And it's working for all of us, on many levels.

This is the stuff of legends. This is the kind of effort, bringing forward the inner hero, which will inspire and energise dauntless hearts for centuries to come.

    Well done, Matt.

    Prachar, Canberra, Australia

Matt Boulton and Namitabha Arsic followed the way with 60.3680 miles each, as the moderate summer weather continued.  Suprabha Beckjord passed the 2000 mile mark for the eighth time in her running life (34+02:07:16) .The first five weeks have proven that this race is still one of the hardest races in the world. The weather, the course, the daily mileage, the distance itself are all challenges that only the strong and brave can overcome.

Namitabha and Andreas must be locked into some unwritten pact. They both reached 63.66 miles. They are matching each other step by step. Even in the rain and thunderstorms last night, the pair carried on. It is inspiration – time, and fun to watch.

Matt, 70 miles is a fantastic achievement for someone who has already been running for over a month. You never cease to amaze us with your miracles. Keep up the good work.
    Veeraja, Melbourne.

Matt, your amazing day blew us all away. Grace descends when we pass the mind’s barriers. Keep it up good guy, and all our sincere best wishes and support, are with you in your actions as a true heroe. Way to go Matt.

WOW!!!  70.2464 miles!!  Good on you Matt - Everyone in Brisbane is cheering for you!!

Matt seems to be getting lots of virtual Aussie cheer messages ...... (and rightly so) but the Celtic virtual cheer leaders are in full swing and here's a message from a Cornishman living in Scotland with a deep love of Abichal's home country of Wales.  May the Celtic spirits (amongst others) inspire you in your journey.  May your heart feel the valleys of Wales and the HIghlands of Scotland as you glide across the miles in New York.  Keep it steady but let’s have an Abichal charge every now and then.

SUPRABHA!    NAMITABHA!     ABICHAL!     MATT!    ANDREAS!     TRISHUL!   OUR HERO RUNNERS!
Everyday here in San Francisco, we watch your results posted on the site - breathlessly!!
Your running is so absolutely inspiring ... each time I start to do something that seems hard, all I have to do is think of the running you are doing each day out on the course in Queens and I go on and just do it!
I made a chart to post in the restaurant that I update everyday with your miles and photos and the daily updates. If I don't post it right when I arrive - people always start asking about what is happening at the 3100 today
Suprabha!  I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU!! Sunday evening - ok! This 7th 3100 Race is so significant for us all - but I tell you, the girls everywhere are filled with so much love and pride and gratitude for your running effort again this year!
Abichal! What a great transcendence for you! I thought The English Channel was next... Well, after this 3100 Race, The Channel will feel easy - cold, but easy!
Matt! You blew us all away with that 70 miler! AWESOME and keep up the amazing effort.
What an inspiration you are to so many runners who think they might someday like to try this multi-day running!
Namitaba, Andreas and Trishul! Everyday your miles bring you closer to the goal and we are watching the them in wonder and with such admiration! We especially love to see the great photos showing the camaraderie and support between all of you.

Well done Matt. Congratulations on climbing another pinnacle and reaching 1300 miles. Your youthful days spent in the tropics of Townsville have certainly prepared you well for the sweltering conditions. You are a sterling example of what courage, faith and determination can achieve.  We think of you often, especially when we are on our long training runs (but our distances seem quite insignificant to the miles you clocked up). We wish you all the best in your journey ahead knowing that you are in safe hands. You provide us all with boundless inspiration.
    Veeraja, Melbourne.

Totally, totally inspired by your daily endeavours.  I am speechless seeing how you churn out the miles day after day, after day, after day.  It makes my 24 hour efforts seem like a stroll in the park.  You are truly showing the world the real meaning of self-transcendence.

The whole group gave it the old college try, as the summery weather started to heat up again. Namitabha Arsic was able to fashion 61.4656 miles, but no one else could exceed the 60 mile barrier. Sometimes the totality of the runners’ efforts over the past four weeks extracts a sub-par result. No expectation can ever be placed on their performances, simply because they are not machines. Every day is a new effort, a new challenge.

I went out to see the runners and want to report that after 7:00 AM, Australian Matt was two miles away from 1200 Miles. When he was at about 500 miles and we were chating he mentioned that we have the same birthday. There is a 30 year difference. It turns out on that day in 1973 when Matt was being born and I had just been around Sri Chinmoy and his students in Jamaica for a short time. On that day I received a special Gift in my awareness for my birthday. At any rate Matt and I were discussing these things as we walked or jogged along. It also was noted that my longest distance for running any event was 50 miles. I mentioned to Matt that he was 30 years later than me coming to this world but as of that date at 500 miles he was already 10 times better. In his own Self Transcendence race today he passed the 1200 mile mark and therefore in our shared oneness transcendence world is now "30 years later - 22 times better." Congrats Matt, Prachar, Salil and the Australian oneness support team.
    Adhiratha Keefe, New York

We miss you, Matt, but thought of you today when I was looking at the elephants in the merry-go-round. Did you know there are two elephants there, not only horsies? One is white, the other one is another colour. And there's a shop there, not far from the statue sheeps which are just standing there, and in the shop there are lots of red elephants, one on the floor and the others in different places. That shop isn't far from the fountain which isn't flowing, but there's no crocodiles in the water, but I didn't want to go in anyway, 'cause the water's cold and I wasn't wearing shoes. We saw the grass then but there were no kangaroos eating any, and it was too far to walk to the mountain to see some. Prachar let me walk all the way down the stairs by myself while mummy was meditating. And I want to tell you a secret - I'm saving my biggest dinosaur to give to you.
Jack (2 years old) Canberra Australia (typed by Prachar)

Congratulations Matt on reaching 2000km You are an inspiration! Keep it up

I would like to send all my good wishes to the runners of 3100 mile race. They give me so much of inspiration. I wish I was there to serve the race in some way.

Go runners, go!What all of these immortal runners are achieving is beyond words and mental comprehension. Truly you are accomplishing something not only for yourselves but also for all of humanity. You have inspired all of us immensely! PS Matt (Miracle Man) Boulton has already proven what faith can achieve, entering this racewith so little ultra-running experience and (almost) no training. Those of us working at The Rainbow-Silence-Heart restaurant phoned him on Monday night. Then, on Wednesaday we had another "live cross" to Matt out on that gruelling course. Truly inspirational andmotivational!!!
    Prashphutita (Melbourne, Australia)

Trishul and Abichal,Barbara and I are following your progress. Every day when I'm running in the heat, my admiration for you increases. Keep up the good work--it's inspiring!
    Dave Luljak

My thoughts are with Trishul, and I want to tell him a joke. But it is so hot, it is official I think I could croak.
Keep running man, I am a big fan. With your hardwork and talent. You ought to be named "Sir Gallant".
You run so smooth you glide along like a snake but in the sun I bet you shake and bake.
Anyway, enough being silly and acting willy, nilly. I am rooting for you to keep the faith, stay the course and cut the tangents! Allay'  allay'  allay'  Monsier Trishul
    Tom from Minneapolis

Trishul and Suprabha: That's quite a race you are both doing! To All of the Runners: With last week's heat, all of you are an inspiration. My wife, Joyce, and I (57 yrs. old and no knees) did our first short triathlon of the season at the end of June which pales into insignificance next to your magnificent display of transcendence. Every day you are all transcending! Keep it up ...
    Pradipan Dundas, ON Canada

Greetings from San Diego to all our amazing self-transcendence heroes! Just want you to know that cookies are on their way--should arrive Thursday morning. We're with you all the way!

Andreas Puntigam snared day honors today with a 63.1120 effort. No one else came close to 60 miles, as the hot weather continued to plague the runners. Wednesday, Namitabha and possibly Andreas will reach the half-way point of the race. At the very end of the day, Abichal Sherrington reached 2000 km for the first time (23+17:05:47).

Photo: Namitabha logs up one more lap.

    Dear Matt,
You are our summit-champion-hero-transcender. You have no idea of how proud we are of you - our prayers are constantly with you. Each step you take offers us new hope, joy and promise. Your aspiration-determination-wings will carry you higher and higher on this your selfless-surrendered journey.
Love you mate - Sahayak, Brisbane Australia.

Trishul; You are awesome - your dedication is amazing. I see your running style from the picture on the website and you are the MASTER of SMOOTH! Keep it up my friend, I am with you in spirit. Why did the chicken cross the road?  To get to the other side so he had a better view of Trishul running past!
    Tom Andrews, Minneapolis
