Twenty straight days at the top of the 70+ Club, our leader Andrea Marcato is matching and beating himself from a year ago, when, on a beautiful park setting-course, became the fifth fastest human in the world to run a 3,100 Mile Race. Salzburg, Austria was the setting, mountains and running water, wide open fields, and a vehicle–prohibited course lent the Italian athlete a pathway to greatness. Today, he waxed poetic with his feet and heart, not only maintaining a 70-mile streak, but inevitably reaching a second consecutive 76.28 mile/122.76 km jaunt around the sidewalk made in some dystopian movie about sleepless athletes in search of something with cracks in it. However, this sidewalk is famous and revered, for the world’s longest race requires the strongest athletes with the biggest hearts, to transform themselves into running machines, with purpose and aplomb. They are changed after reaching their goal of goals, never allowing fear to command their lives. Sri Chinmoy’s brilliant race is revealing ways for aspiring seeker-athletes to tear away their egos, and reveal their true selves, not just an imagined potential. Hail the 3100 runners y’all.
