About the author:

Rupantar has been the race director of the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team since 1985, having been asked by Sri Chinmoy to serve in that capacity. As well as working on the big races the US Marathon Team organise each year - the 3100 Mile Race and the Six and 10 Day Race - he also spends a considerable amount of time archiving the Marathon Team's 40 year history on this website.

The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team wishes to share the following e-mail we received from Karen Cahit Yeter in reference to the tribute posted here on the passing of her father, ultra legend Cahit Yeter:

"Dear Friends,

I was deeply touched when I saw the tribute about my father on your website. I remember my father participating in all your races and events. As a child, there wouldn't be much for my sister and I to do all those hours waiting for our dad to finish that ultra and the Sri Chinmoy family would somehow entertain and take care of us. Sri Chinmoy and all of his disciples were such a huge part of our lives. Not only did my dad treasure his friendship with Sri Chinmoy but also with Sri Chinmoy's disciples. I just wanted to let you all know how important Sri Chinmoy and all of you were to my father.

Please pass this on to anyone who knew my dad.

Thank you so so much!  I miss him everyday and it just made me so happy to see that tribute to him!

Yours,

Karen Cahit Yeter"
