BALTIMORE - Daniel Kinsey highlighted the second day of competition at the USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hughes Stadium on the campus of Morgan State University.

Kinsey of Ohio endured the warm weather conditions to win the decathlon young men's division with a total of 6814 points which was almost 700 points better than runner-up Michael Hall's total of 6118. "I had a rough day, the heat was killing me but it feels awesome to be done and to win," said Kinsey.

Other highlights from today included the 4x800m relay for the midget boys/girls, young boys/girls, intermediate boys/girls, and the young men/women. Also on the schedule were the finals in the intermediate boys and young men's decathlon. And finally the other races were the midget boys/girls pentathlon and the intermediate girls and young women's heptathlon.

In the young girls 4x800m relay the DC Redwings Youth Program team won with a time of 9:25.2 to easily beat the second place Gazelle track club who had a time of 9:35.1. "We've been running together for years and we are used to this but we are glad we won," said the girls relay composed of Monica Mason, Dominique Lockhart, Veronica Salcido and Ashley Seymour.

For the young boys 4x800m relay the Gazelle track club won in a time of 8:57.8 to beat the second place team of the DC Redwings Youth Program. "We ran good, but we had no competition," said the team comprised of Timond Chubb, R. Christian Willis, Charles Flewellen, and Tye Youngblood. "We tried to do our best and this was our fastest time so far."

The Track Houston team won the 4x800m relay for the intermediate boys division with a time of 8:08.86. "When we run we expect to win," said the relay team of Tim Foster, Wesley Bray, Brandon Washington and Nicholas Makukutu. "We're just thankful we got the opportunity to come up here to compete."

In the multi events, Tiffany Chavis won the intermediate girls heptathlon with 4277 points to beat second place Keva Ramsay with 4130 points. "I felt good since I was leading into the today's final events," said Chavis. "I knew I just had to make it through the long jump and javelin than I'd be alright."

In the midget boys pentathlon, Trevor Tatum won with a total of 2621 points to beat second-place finisher Andre Simmons with 2121 points. "I thought I'd win," said Tatum. "I placed fifth in this event last year so it feels great to come back and win this year."
